Her design will be used to encourage students to take part in the National Student Survey (NSS) next year. The NSS is an annual survey of mainly final year undergraduates in the UK.  Eligible students are invited to complete the survey when they are nearing the end of their course. It is a nationally recognised independent survey, which asks students to reflect on their course experience across a range of areas including teaching quality, academic support and overall satisfaction.

NSS marketing materials are distributed to around 350 Higher Education institutions and Further Education colleges across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Charlotte’s design will be developed in accordance with student feedback and the national campaign will be launched in the New Year

Charlotte said: “I took part as a summer project with my course and felt it would be a great opportunity for me to show my skills and add to my portfolio.

“I am waiting for my poster to be developed by Ipsos MORI which will happen over November, the poster will be released to institutions in January.”

The winning concept is selected through a two stage programme – a shortlist selection, followed by a consultation of current students.  Of all entries received, a shortlist is selected by a panel, made up of representatives of the funding partners and NUS.  This year, seven posters were shortlisted.

Vikki Zeila, Associate Director at Ipsos MORI, said: “We aim to ensure that the NSS marketing campaign is appealing to the target audience so the eventual winner of the competition is selected by current students.

“Students selected Charlotte’s design for its clear message and particularly liked the speech bubble concept; in that it clearly encouraged them to ‘have their say’ in the NSS. They also liked the crispness of the design and the use of space”.
