Support for students affected by the crisis in Nepal

Published: 12 September 2025

Campus building in the sunshine

Events currently taking place in Nepal will no doubt be having a worrying impact on our Nepali students, many of whom will be deeply concerned about the safety of loved ones at home.

Colleagues at York St John University would like to offer their support during this difficult time.

Please know that support is available from our Wellbeing and Wellness teams via the Student Hub.

On our London campus, you can book personalised one-to-one wellness appointments, and access specialist services from mental health practitioners and welfare advisors.

On our York campus, the Wellbeing team offers free drop-in sessions Monday to Friday, 1.00pm to 3.30pm. You can also self-refer for wellbeing support by completing the online self-referral form.

All students can visit Spectrum.Life online for free, confidential counselling and wellbeing support 24/7. Access the service directly on Freephone 08000 318 227 or UK WhatsApp/SMS: Text ‘Hi’ to 07418 360 780.

Our University Chaplain, Reverend Jane Speck is also available by contacting chaplaincy@yorksj.ac.uk.

Students experiencing difficulty meeting submission deadlines can apply for exceptional circumstances extensions. Please log into e:Vision and visit the Exceptional Circumstances and Extensions section. If you need support with completing the online form, please contact the Student Hub

We hope that support from the University can provide some reassurance while you are far from home. Please get in touch with our Chaplain if you would like to arrange space on campus to come together to reflect and support each other during this troubling time.
