Published: 24 February 2012

York St John University has opened two regional international offices in Beijing and Kuala Lumpur, with launch celebrations overseen by the University’s Vice Chancellor Professor David Fleming.

The offices in the Chinese and Malaysian capitals will support the recruitment of prospective international students and marketing of York St John in East Asia. The opening of the offices is part of a rapidly expanding internationalisation agenda for the University. York St John has witnessed a steady increase in applications from this region and has seen a growth of Chinese students in particular choosing to study business related degrees at York St John Business School.

Speaking at the opening of the Beijing office, Vice Chancellor Professor David Fleming said:

“The opening of these offices celebrates the achievements the University has made so far in this region and also the exciting plans for development we have. York St John has enjoyed long links with China and we are very much looking forward to building on our partnerships and success in the region with counterparts in Malaysia.”

Ian Tan, Director of International Development (Asia) added:

“York St John University offers international students an ideal environment in which to continue or complete their educational studies. The University is based in the heart of York with state of the art teaching facilities, high quality accommodation sites and many shops and services within a short walk from the campus.”
