York St John University Art Students “Create” Annual Showcase
Published: 21 May 2013
Create 13 is an annual showcase that gives the Faculty of Arts at York St John University a unique opportunity to exhibit the work and talents of its students to the public.
The showcase runs in venues across the city including the university until 1 June.
One of the theatre performances is Pack up your troubles by Past Times Theatre, based upon the roles and experiences of women who were living in World War Two. The company has been working with women from residential homes in York to collect their personal stories with the objective of bringing their memories to life on the stage.
Audiences can also enjoy a dance trail through the city starting at York St John University and concluding at the National Railway Museum.
A selection of final year students’ short films will be screened at the university between 18 and 23 May, culminating in a Film & Television Awards Night on 30 May at the Royal York Hotel.
Fiona Thompson, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at York St John University, said: “We are immensely proud of our students who have worked extremely hard to produce and present their work at Create 13. This is a fantastic opportunity for the general public to see for themselves the great talent on their doorstep.”
