Published: 18 October 2013

York has played host to an international conference which has attracted to the city almost 300 occupational therapy academics and students from 25 countries and 75 universities across Europe and the USA.

The European Network of Occupational Therapy Educators’ (ENOTHE) 19th annual conference has been organised by York St John University’s Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, bringing together the world’s thought leaders on occupational therapy. This year’s conference follows the European Union’s 2013 theme of ‘Year of Citizens’ and explored occupational rights, occupational justice and participation.

The three day event at York Racecourse started on Thursday 17 October. The audience was welcomed by the Rt Hon Lord Mayor Julie Gunnell and Professor David Maughan Brown, Deputy Vice Chancellor at York St John University. The event involved workshops, presentations and keynote addresses from academics and organisations including European Brain Council, Queen Margaret University and University of Tunisia, and more.

Professor David Maughan Brown, Deputy Vice Chancellor at York St John University, who opened the conference said:
“We are very proud of the University’s provision in the area of Occupational Therapy and other health related disciplines. We are delighted to host this long standing event with its lively thought provoking debate and to welcome so many experts in occupational therapy to our city.”
