York St John University wins a Times Higher Education Leadership & Management Award

York St John University won the Outstanding Strategic Planning Team Award at Tuesday’s Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards.
 
The award was made in recognition of the University’s overall approach to strategic planning, and in particular for the University’s work in developing our sector-leading Progress and Risk Management Tool.

Professor David Fleming, Vice Chancellor, said: “This award demonstrates the effectiveness of our approach and highlights one of the main reasons for our recent and continued success.
“I am proud of all our colleagues as this award represents a culmination of the dedication and hard work of every member of York St John staff.

“We would not have achieved this recognition without their determination to work together and support colleagues, thank you to them for all their efforts.”

Now in their sixth year, the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards are a highlight of the academic calendar and a celebration of the best of the sector.

Mark Pegg, chief executive of the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, said that among many “impressive accounts” of strategic planning teams in action, York St John had received the judges’ vote because “it had that extra creative and innovative ingredient that made it stand out above the rest."

John Gill, editor, Times Higher Education, said: “Winning a Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Award is recognition of a most impressive achievement: making an exceptional contribution to the success of one of the UK’s most precious assets, our universities.”
