The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dr John Sentamu, Chancellor of York St John University and Archbishop of York, will install Professor Karen Stanton as the University’s third Vice Chancellor in front of an audience of staff, guests and graduating students.

As part of the ceremony, representatives of the York St John University community will welcome the new Vice Chancellor with the presentation of gifts.

The Graduation Brass Ensemble will play Inauguration Fanfare 2015, written by David Lancaster, Head of Dance, Drama, Media and Music, for Professor Stanton and the University Chamber Choir will sing.

Professor Karen Stanton joined York St John University as Vice Chancellor in September 2015. Prior to her appointment, she was Deputy Vice Chancellor at Glasgow Caledonian University. She has also held positions at King’s College London and at the universities of Nottingham, Birmingham and Sheffield Hallam.

Speaking prior to her inauguration, Professor Stanton said: “I am very much looking forward to next week's inauguration when I will be officially welcomed into the York St John community.

“It is an honour and privilege to be installed as Vice Chancellor and to share this special day with the first cohort of our 2015 graduates will make it even more memorable.”
