York St John University hosts book launch with Chancellor Reeta Chakrabarti 

York St John University is proud to welcome celebrated BBC journalist and Chancellor of the University, Reeta Chakrabarti, for the launch of her debut novel, Finding Belle. Taking place on Wednesday 28 May in the York St John Creative Centre, this free launch event will feature discussion, insights, a book signing and wine reception. 

Reeta Chakrabarti is a household name in British journalism, known for her work as a newsreader and correspondent for BBC News. With Finding Belle, she turns her hand to fiction for the first time, delivering a moving and powerful story about the ties that bind and the truths that set us free. It is a story of mothers and daughters, betrayal, and a child who must forge her own identity.  

Hosted in partnership with the York Literature Festival, this special launch event centres around an in-depth conversation between Reeta Chakrabarti and Professor Anne-Marie Evans, Head of the School of Humanities at York St John University.  

Reeta will discuss her writing process and some of the key themes that her work interrogates. They will explore the novel’s rich themes, spanning identity, betrayal, and intergenerational relationships, set against the backdrop of Mombasa, Kolkata, and England.
