Published: 13 March 2013

Professor David Fleming, Vice Chancellor of York St John University, has been appointed as Deputy Chair for the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, UCAS.

UCAS is the shared admissions service for higher education in the UK. Each year, the organisation manages applications from over 600,000 applicants for full-time undergraduate courses at over 300 institutions across the UK.

Mary Curnock Cook, UCAS Chief Executive said: “David has served on the UCAS board since 2010 and I know he will continue to make a very valuable contribution as Deputy Chair.  As a member of both UUK and Guild HE, he brings a wide perspective from across the higher education sector.  All of us at UCAS warmly welcome his appointment.”

Commenting on his new role, Professor Fleming said: “I am very much looking forward to continuing my work with UCAS.  As a VC of a University where we genuinely put students at the heart of everything we do, I am also very keen to ensure that UCAS continues to keep applicants at the heart of admissions to higher education.”
