The LGBT Staff Network has been shortlisted for four Inclusive Network Awards which were created, by the Inclusive Networks organisation, to celebrate the positive impact of network groups from all diversity strands and across all sectors.

Inclusive Networks is an organisation that brings networks, charities, community groups and employers of all diversity strands and sectors together.

The awards the University is in the running for are:
• Employee LGBT Network of the Year
• Inspiring Member of the Year (Andy Law)
• Collaboration of the Year (work with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the City of York Council on LGBT History Month)
• Network Champion of the Year (Jo Thompson)

The winners will be announced on Tuesday 17 November.

Dr Fiona Thompson, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Chair of the LGBT Staff Network, said: “This is very exciting and I aim to be at the awards evening, hoping nominations turn into awards. But even if they don’t, we have shown what is possible, thanks to a brilliant team of people who make things happen.”

The shortlisting follows last week’s announcement that the York St John network had been recognised by Inclusive Networks as one of 2015’s top 100 Awesome Networks.
