Chief executive of HEFCE visits York St John University

The chief executive of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), Sir Alan Langlands, made a special visit to York St John University on 13 July 2012.

After hearing about York St John University’s recent successes, including its 11.3% increase in undergraduate applications for 2012, Sir Alan visited the city centre campus with HEFCE regional consultant for the North, Tina Egan, to meet with vice chancellor, Professor David Fleming and chair of governors, Ann Green CBE.

Commenting on the visit, Professor David Fleming said: “During the HEFCE visit, Sir Alan showed particular interest in the increase in our applications and was keen to learn more about the University’s future growth strategy and vision for an exceptional student experience.”

The University maintains a close relationship with HEFCE, which is responsible for promoting and funding high-quality education and research in universities and colleges with higher education programmes. Professor David Fleming was appointed as Vice Chancellor in 2010.
