Dementia awareness film premiered in York

Published: 27 November 2013

A film which aims to raise awareness of dementia amongst secondary school students has been premiered in York this week.

The film has been produced by York St John University Phoenix Centre tenant, Inspired Youth, working with students from The Joseph Rowntree School, community members and a number of residents from Hartrigg Oaks.

It is hoped that the film and its accompanying lesson plan will be shown in York secondary schools reaching over 2,000 students and staff in the next academic year to increase dementia awareness and build better understanding of the condition from an early age, and potentially then be rolled out to schools nationally.

Inspired Youth, social enterprise and film company, made the short film in July with students from the Joseph Rowntree School and dementia sufferers from Hartrigg Oaks residence, with guidance from Dementia Forward.
