Published: 10 November 2014

The students taking the Shakespeare: Perspectives module were treated to a visit from two of the country's leading Shakespeare actors, Pippa Nixon and Alex Waldmann.

Alex and Pippa have recently appeared together in several productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company including playing Orlando and Rosalind in the 2013 production of As You Like It.

Pippa and Alex ran a workshop on Hamlet, first of all talking about their portrayals of Ophelia and Horatio in David Farr's 2013 Royal Shakespeare Company production of Hamlet and then working with the students to explore the Nunnery scene from different perspectives.

Julie Raby, Head of Department: Humanities said: "It was an amazing experience to witness two talented Shakespeare actors working so enthusiastically and ease with the text."

"The students were enthralled by the session and learnt a lot about how you can use performance approaches to discover meaning in Shakespeare's texts."

Alex is currently appearing at the Park Theatre, London in the gripping Jonah and Otto which is receiving sensational reviews. Pippa has recently appeared in the ITV drama Grantchester, and will soon to be seen in two films, Panic and Containment.
