York St John sponsors new category for The Press Business Awards

As one of only two universities to have achieved the internationally recognised Social Enterprise Gold Mark, we are committed to social enterprise excellence and incorporate these principles into our own approach to governance, business ethics and financial transparency.

This year, as we celebrate our 175^th year as a learning institution, we are delighted to have the opportunity to champion other socially responsible businesses within our region by recognising the outstanding efforts that companies have made to do business responsibly. The Press Business Awards are an opportunity for our local companies to showcase and receive recognition for truly innovative strategies that are leading examples of social responsibility and sustainability.

Ethical business and active citizenship are areas which we are incredibly passionate about as a University and we play an active part in educating socially responsible leaders of the future. 

York Business School based at York St John University continues to push the boundaries by aspiring to reach the highest standards in business education and has recently become a member of Business in the Community (BITC), a Prince of Wales charity that promotes responsible business. Working with BITC, members transform communities by tackling key social and environmental issues where organisations can make a real difference.

York St John University continues to play a key role in developing a new generation of business and community leaders equipped to manage the complex economic, social and environmental challenges faced by business and society. York Business School has fully embraced the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) programme, which is having a major influence on the School’s thinking, curriculum design, research and dialogue with the business community.
