John Maw (alumnus 1958) and his wife Evelyn.

The day included a number of activities and was hosted by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Karen Stanton.

Visitors were able to take part in a panel discussion around the topic York St John: Past, Present and Future, look at items from the University’s heritage collection and take a campus tour.

More than 80 people attended on the day with graduation years from 1951 to 2015 represented.

Billy Jones, Alumni Relations Co-ordinator at York St John, said: “Saturday went really well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The panel discussion created some interesting debate and the campus tours were very popular.

“There was a great atmosphere on campus as everyone, from across a wide range of graduation years, came together to celebrate the unique institution that is York St John.”

York St John was founded on 17 May 1841 and 2016 marks its 175th anniversary.

The University is using this opportunity to reflect on its heritage and, as one of the oldest higher education establishments in England, its long tradition of delivering high quality education. The anniversary also offers York St John the chance to look forward and discover how the institution can use our history and achievements to shape its future.
