At an event bringing the 175 scholars together for the first time, their success was celebrated by Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Alyson Tobin, who said:
“These students are the brightest and the best of our new entrants and we have high expectations that they will go on to achieve excellent degree outcomes, have hugely successful careers and in time will become great advocates for York St John University. We are proud of them for working so hard and they should also be very proud of themselves”.
The scholarship students have all achieved UCAS points higher than the equivalent of three As at A Level, and represent the high quality learning, teaching and student experience at York St John.
Psychology student Serena Benson, one of the 175 scholars said:
“I found out about the scholarships during an Open Day and went away determined to try and get the best grades I could. When I got the email telling me I had been awarded the scholarship it was like a dream come true! I feel like all my hard work has paid off and I want to use some of the money for the psychology books I need on my course”.
The University’s Governing Body launched the 175 scholarships as an opportunity for York St John to celebrate its long tradition of delivering high quality education since its foundation in 1841.
