Poetic launch for literature series

A series of free literature events at York St John University will be launched on Thursday 11 October when award winning poet Antony Dunn presents ‘Ovid and After: Metamorphoses and Contemporary Poetry.’

Antony Dunn won the Newdigate Prize in 1995 and received an Eric Gregory Award in 2000. He has also published three collections of poems, Pilots and Navigators, Flying Fish and Bugs.

Antony is a regular tutor for The Poetry School and the Arvon Foundation. He is the director of the Bridlington Poetry Festival and has written several plays including Dog Blue, Goose Chase and Shepherds’ Delight.

The free performance will take place in York St John University’s De-Grey Lecture Theatre between 7pm and 9pm on Thursday 11 November.

Future events in the literature series include readings from York St John University Creative Writing staff, Barrie Sherwood, JT Welsh and Abi Curtis on 18 October when the launch of a new poetry collection The Glass Delusion will also take place. Performances and a discussion on the running of a highly successful indie press, Penned in the Margins, with Tom Chivers and Ross Sutherland will conclude the series on 22 November.
