Phoenix Centre tenant celebrates third successful year

Events company Now And Then Group marks its third birthday this weekend with a celebratory York Does Vintage event in the city.

This Sunday (9 March) York Does Vintage turns three and to celebrate the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall will host a vintage event featuring stalls, tearoom and craft workshops while York St John University's all female Barbershop group and The Four Shadows band will add to the party atmosphere.

Organised by Samantha Agnew and York St John alumna Alexandra Claydon, York Does Vintage has firmly become a favourite with local residents as well as tourists. It has been shortlisted for Visit York’s Best Shopping Experience for the past two years, and last year picked up an Outstanding Customer Service award and the York Press Tourism and Hospitality Business of the Year.

Samantha and Alexandra’s company, Now And Then Group, is based at The Phoenix Centre at York St John University.

Samantha said: “We’re having a big celebration to mark our third birthday so come and join in!

“It’s been a fabulous three years for us and we can’t believe how far we’ve come. We’ve recently been invited by Old Spitalfields Market, for example, to take our Made Locally With Love event down to the famous London venue every month which is a great opportunity.

“We love being based at The Phoenix Centre; not only have we benefitted from the support but it’s also lovely being able to offer opportunities to the students. We can’t wait to see what the next three years bring.”

The Phoenix Centre, at York St John University, opened in 2009. It provides affordable space for new creative and IT-based ventures, with access to specialist support and facilities, networking and collaborative opportunities.

York Does Vintage will be at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, Fossgate, York on Sunday 9 March 2014 between 10.30 – 4.30pm. Entry is £1.
